Incredible India indeed!

While the government is keen to promote tourism in India and spends hundreds of crores for the purpose, the human infrastructure may prove to be a weak link.

A delegation of German journalists, comprising mostly women, sought the services of a leading tourist operator for sight-seeing in Delhi. The operator made all the arrangements, including a guide.

During their interaction, some delegation members talked about the Nirbhaya incident. The guide told them a story to the effect that the ill-fated girl was drunk when she had alighted the bus. She misbehaved with the driver, even slapped him. Her rape and brutalization were actually the consequence of retaliation from the driver and is associates, the guide said.

Needless to say, the entire delegation was taken aghast.

With such tourist guides, does India need any detractors?
