The Bengal chapter of Virat Hindustan Sangam organized a Felicitation Function in Kolkata to honor its national president and BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on January 11 in Kolkata for his contribution to the country. West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar was the chief guest at the programme.

The Governor recalled the various roles played by Swamy and his contribution to nation building. Swamy said Dhankhar’s role as the West Bengal Governor was being praised in Delhi. Lauding Swamy, Dhankhar said, “He takes on the issues that others would like to avoid, faces them head-on, never relents and wins.”

The Governor hailed Swamy’s contribution to the Supreme Court judgment in the Ramjanmabhoomi title dispute case.

VHS Bengal state heads Sumita Basu and Indranil Banerjee are going to carry the message of Swamy in informing people about facts on the NRC and the CAA. Swamy said the NRC and CAA must be implemented for the security of the nation. He also mentioned that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamàta Banerjee has always been a friend and will remain so.

Another speaker, Janab Kazi Masum Akhtar, said that the Opposition is playing with Muslim sentiments by wrongly misusing them against the Narendra Modi government. It is a ploy to destroy national security, he said, adding that all progressive Muslims are in support of the NRC and CAA.
