Jaitley’s media relations pay dividends

While the media remained focused on Smriti Irani being moved from the Human Resources Development Ministry to the Textiles Ministry and the a kind of snub, but not many have commented upon Arun Jaitley’s loss and perhaps the reduced status in the government.

For a long time, he held the all-important Finance and Defence Ministries—the only Minister to have done so far. Besides, he was also in-charge of the Corporate Affaires portfolio. Last year, he was divested of Defence, but was compensated with Information & Broadcasting, a Ministry he is most comfortable with, given his excellent relations with top editors and media barons. Perhaps this was the reason that cutting him down to size has gone largely uncommented in the mainstream media.
