Terrorists mutilate soldier’s body

Terrorists from across the border mutilated the body of an Indian soldier in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The soldier and a terrorist were killed near the Line of Control in the Machil Sector on Thursday evening.

“In a despicable act, the terrorists mutilated the body of the Indian Army soldier before fleeing into Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), supported by covering fire from Pakistani Army posts,” an Army spokesman said on Friday.

“This barbarism is a true reflection which pervades official and non-official organizations across the border. This act will invite an appropriate response,” he said. “The incident will be responded to appropriately.”

A day before the barbarity, the Border Security Force had said 15 Pakistani soldiers were killed in retaliatory firing by Indian troops. A week ago, seven Pakistani soldiers were killed by Indian forces.

There have been a large number of cases of ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces following the surgical strikes on September 29. On Thursday and Friday, Pakistan violated the ceasefire in Rajouri, Samba, Abdullia, RS Pura and Suchetgarh.

These violations have resulted in the death of three BSF soldiers in the last five days.

Areas near the border have been on high alert. On Thursday Home Minister Rajnath Singh urged the BSF to give a “fitting response” to the firing and shelling by Pakistanis.
