PM takes stock of Kashmir situation

Soon after concluding his four-nation Africa tour, on Tuesday morning Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on the Kashmir situation. The attendees included, among others, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Meanwhile Home Minister Rajnath Singh dropped his visit to the United States, to attend the Indo-US Homeland Security Dialogue, because of the stir in the Valley. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Monday expressed concern over the agitation in Kashmir.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who was with Modi on his Africa trip, cut short his visit and returned to Delhi on Monday. “If there are problems, there are solutions. We are quite confident and competent of finding solutions,” Doval told PTI.
