Bhagwant Mann receives flak for security video

Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP’s) MP from Punjab, faced a lot of flak on Friday for compromising Parliament House security by doing video recording of his drive into the building. The entry was accompanied with a running commentary of the checks by security personnel.

Leaders cutting across party lines condemned his antic, demanding action against him. The 42-year-old comedian-turned-politician tendered an “unconditional apology” to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. She, however, appeared unmoved: “An apology is not enough, since all party members are upset.” A committee may be set up to investigate the matter, she added.

His troubles have compounded with Harinder Singh Khalsa, who suspended by the AAP a year ago for indiscipline, filing a written complaint against Mann for has allegedly appearing drunk in parliament.

Khalsa said that as a Sikh it hurts his religious sentiments when Bhagwant Mann “sits tipsy next to me. I request you to change my seat.”
