More than any political commentator, it was US President Donald Trump who correctly analyzed the recent assault in London that killed seven people and wounded several scores. “We must stop being politically correct and get down to business of security for our people. If we don’t get smart it will only get worse,” he tweeted. He hit the nail on the head.
In the third major attack in Britain in the past three months, three jihadists used a van and knives to kill and injure innocents. It started on Saturday night when a van went off the road and crushed pedestrians on busy London Bridge. Then the men abandoned the vehicle and stabbed people at bars and restaurants in nearby Borough Market with large knives. The police were quick to respond, shooting dead the three attackers within eight minutes.
Never cowed down by the liberal establishment, whose central belief is that terror is caused by everything other than Islam, Trump rightly slammed London Mayor Sadiq Khan. For London’s first Muslim Mayor continues to wallow in platitudes; he was telling the media that there was no conflict between Western and Islamic values—a blatant lie. Worse, he “reassured we are one of the safest global cities in the world.” Trump tweeted, “At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed’!”
That was the American President—short, crisp, simple. And true. Since Left-libbers are pathologically opposed to the truth, they have released a torrent of invective and vituperation against him.
Conventional politicians like UK Prime Minister Theresa May Sunday have responded conventionally; she called for tougher measures to fight jihad. I doubt these would include professional anti-terror actions for the fear of being labeled ‘racist’ and ‘Islamophobic.’ These are the allegations hurled at anybody serious in fight against Muslim terror.
Among those who have paralyzed the war on terror is Sadiq Khan. In fact, his actions have been traitorous. For instance, in the wake of the July 7, 2005, bombings on London, he blamed Britain’s foreign policy rather than Muslim terrorists. Further, as a lawyer, he has defended Zacarias Moussaoui, a 9/11 terrorist who admitted to being a member of Al Qaeda. Another Islamist he defended was Azzam Tamimi who threatened violence if the Prophet Muhammed was defamed.
The London Mayor has shared platform with Suliman Gani, a south London imam who favors an Islamic state. Daily Mail reported on April 17, 2016, at a funeral, “he stopped to shake stood out: convicted terrorist Babar Ahmad, a man who has been blamed for inspiring a generation of extremists, including the gang behind the London bombings of July 7, 2005. The pair exchanged brief pleasantries before Khan moved on.”
In his Sadiq Khan advised that the police should be charged with “racism” if certain community was targeted. Evidently, such ideas are being followed not just in the UK capital but the entire country.
But great columnists and redoubtable scholars are unable to see all this or the writing on the wall; and when somebody like Trump enlightens them of the stupidity and the failure of their suicidal attitude towards Islam, they are hauled over the coals for speaking the truth. Sadly, the truth is increasingly becoming a pariah in public discourse.
